With over three decades of experience, Counts has dedicated his career to helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges through the lens of Christian faith and proven psychological techniques.

Counts' journey in counseling began in 1984, and since then, he has honed his skills in various settings, including church-sponsored counseling centers, private practice, cancer treatment centers, inpatient psychiatric facilities, and intensive outpatient programs. This diverse background has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues, allowing him to address a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, loss, and relationship difficulties.

As a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC #879), Counts integrates his faith with his professional practice. He is particularly passionate about helping couples build stronger, more fulfilling relationships. His certification in the Gottman Method, a research-based approach to couples therapy, allows him to offer couples proven information and techniques for improving their relationships.

Counts' expertise extends beyond individual and couples counseling. He is also endorsed as a 'Gottman Seven Principles Program Educator' and a 'Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator.' This additional training enables him to offer specialized workshops and programs to churches and civic groups, focusing on strengthening marriages and preparing couples for parenthood.

With a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Marshall University, Counts combines academic knowledge with practical experience. His role as an Approved Licensed Professional Supervisor (ALPS) in West Virginia also speaks to his commitment to nurturing the next generation of counseling professionals.
