About

At the intersection of identity, empathy, and evidence-based practice stands Sarah (Sid) Treaster, a queer, nonbinary therapist who brings a unique blend of personal experience and professional expertise to their work at the Center for Growth. As an Associate Therapist with a Master of Social Work and a Master of Education in Human Sexuality, Sid creates a safe, empowering space for clients to explore their authentic selves and work towards personal growth.

Sid's therapeutic approach is as diverse as the clients they serve. Drawing from a rich tapestry of methodologies including Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness practices, Sid tailors their approach to each client's unique needs. They specialize in a wide range of areas, including anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQIA+ issues, relationships, sex therapy, and multicultural concerns.

With a background that spans from ballet to crisis counseling, Sid brings a wealth of life experience to their practice. Their journey has taken them from Santa Fe to Connecticut, Massachusetts to Rhode Island, giving them a broad perspective on diverse communities and cultures. This varied background informs their intersectional lens, acknowledging the complex interplay of identity, oppression, and mental health in each client's unique life experience.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island, Sid offers both in-person and virtual therapy sessions. They work with individuals, groups, couples, and other relationship formations, always prioritizing the creation of a comfortable, relaxed, and safe environment where clients can be their most authentic selves. Sid's goal is to cultivate a strong therapeutic alliance, leading with empathy, kindness, and when appropriate, humor.

In addition to their clinical work, Sid is passionate about education and advocacy. Their experience providing sex and consent education in high schools and colleges, coupled with their specialized training in sex therapy, makes them particularly adept at addressing issues related to sexuality and gender identity. Whether a client is navigating gender dysphoria, exploring polyamorous relationships, or seeking to improve their sexual health, Sid provides knowledgeable, non-judgmental support.

Clients working with Sid can expect a collaborative, strengths-based approach to therapy. They view their practice as an ongoing partnership, exploring relevant histories, examining values, and setting personalized goals for treatment. Sid firmly believes that clients are the experts on their own lives and aims to empower them to work towards their full potential. With Sid, therapy becomes a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth, tailored to each individual's unique path.
