About

With a deep understanding of the complex interplay between trauma, identity, and mental health, Sarah Gauthier, LCSW, brings a unique and compassionate approach to her therapy practice. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Sarah specializes in working with individuals experiencing Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and various forms of dissociation, including depersonalization and derealization.

Sarah's expertise extends beyond traditional therapeutic boundaries, as she brings her personal experiences as a transwoman to her practice. This unique perspective allows her to provide insightful and empathetic care to individuals across the gender spectrum and those exploring questions of sexual orientation. However, Sarah firmly believes in the individuality of each client's journey, never assuming that her personal experiences dictate what is best for others.

At the core of Sarah's practice is a trauma-informed approach, backed by advanced education in trauma narrative work and trauma-informed care. She continually seeks out educational opportunities to deepen her understanding of trauma and its impact on individuals. This commitment to ongoing learning ensures that her clients receive the most up-to-date and effective care possible.

Sarah's professional experience includes several years in Crisis Intervention, where she has worked extensively with clients struggling with suicidal thoughts, self-injury, and substance use. This background equips her with the skills to handle complex and urgent mental health needs with confidence and care.

In her practice, Sarah works with a diverse range of clients, including children, tweens, adolescents, families, and adults. She employs a collaborative, client-centered, and holistic approach, recognizing that each individual who enters her office is the true expert on their own life and needs. Sarah's goal is to help clients identify their issues and address their concerns in a way that respects their autonomy and embraces their unique life experiences.

Sarah's practice is grounded in the belief that everyone is shaped by their own experiences and understanding of the world. She creates a judgment-free, affirming, and inclusive environment where clients can explore their challenges and work towards healing. Whether dealing with mild depression and anxiety or more pervasive mental health concerns, Sarah is committed to empowering and uplifting each individual she meets.
