About

Creating a safe and collaborative counseling environment where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered is at the heart of Kathryn Archer's therapeutic approach. As a Nashville-based therapist, Kathryn brings a unique blend of expertise in addiction treatment and play therapy to her practice, underpinned by a strong foundation in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.

Kathryn's journey in mental health began at Lipscomb University, where she earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specializing in addiction treatment and play therapy. This educational background is complemented by her Bachelor's degree in Economics and Entrepreneurship from the University of North Carolina, offering a multifaceted perspective to her therapeutic work.

At the core of Kathryn's practice is the Internal Family Systems approach, which she uses to help clients better understand the various parts of themselves. These parts, often holding deeply entrenched beliefs, thoughts, or behaviors, can sometimes hinder connection to one's true self. Kathryn skillfully guides her clients through this internal landscape, incorporating experiential interventions such as sand tray, meditation, and expressive arts. These techniques serve to deepen self-understanding and facilitate healing from trauma and extreme thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and behaviors.

Kathryn's therapeutic style is characterized by humility and curiosity, fostering a non-judgmental environment where individuals are empowered to continue their journey toward healing and wholeness. She takes great care to consider the unique experiences, identities, and perspectives of each person throughout the counseling process. While Kathryn welcomes clients from all walks of life, she has developed particular expertise in addressing men's issues, childhood trauma, spiritual and religious trauma, substance abuse, relationship issues, and life transitions. Her practice primarily focuses on adolescents, young adults, and adults.

Drawing from her previous experience working with adolescent males in residential treatment and individuals in outpatient counseling, Kathryn has honed her skills in addressing trauma, identity issues, and disconnection from self and others. This diverse background enables her to offer a comprehensive and tailored approach to each client's unique needs.

For those considering therapy with Kathryn, she invites potential clients to reach out via text or email to set up an initial phone call. This first step opens the door to a therapeutic relationship built on trust, understanding, and a shared commitment to personal growth and healing.
