About

Pioneering innovative programs to address substance abuse and behavioral challenges, Griffen M. Halko, M.S. LAADC, stands at the forefront of addiction counseling and program development. As the Director of Program Development for both Claremont Counseling and Support Center, A Psychological Corporation and Chino Hills Counseling, Griffen has made significant strides in creating comprehensive, multi-faceted approaches to addiction and behavioral health.

Griffen's crowning achievement is the creation and implementation of "Chances For Change," an umbrella program that encompasses behavioral skills, substance abuse treatment, and impact panels. This program's versatility has led to its adoption in various settings, from local educational facilities within Chino Valley Unified School District to nationally recognized trade schools and local employers. Notably, the behavioral skills module of Chances For Change has been utilized as a legal diversion program for first-time offenders at Don Lugo High School, earning approval from the San Bernardino County District Attorney's office and local law enforcement.

Before his current role, Griffen demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to substance abuse prevention as the founder and Executive Director of Stay Designated, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In this capacity, he focused on developing outpatient programs, interventions, fundraisers, victim advocacy programs, and various DUI prevention formats, laying the groundwork for his current innovative approaches.

Griffen's expertise is built on a solid educational foundation. He holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Alcoholism and Chemical Dependency, complemented by a Chemical Dependency Certification from California Southern University. His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his current pursuit of a Doctorate in Psychology with a concentration in Pastoral Care at the same institution. As a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LAADC), recognized by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals, Griffen brings a wealth of specialized knowledge to his practice.

An accomplished public speaker, Griffen has addressed thousands on crucial topics such as "Decision Vs. Consequence, Substance Use, Abuse, and Addiction, as well as Driving Under the Influence." His collaborations span a wide range of organizations, including the California Highway Patrol, MADD, various Police Departments and School Districts throughout San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties, and both San Bernardino and Los Angeles Probation Departments. Griffen's involvement in nationally recognized programs like Every 15 Minutes, Safe and Sober, Red Ribbon Week, MADD Victim Impact Panels, and Start Smart further underscores his commitment to community education and prevention.

Griffen M. Halko's multifaceted approach to addiction counseling and program development, coupled with his extensive experience and ongoing education, positions him as a leading figure in the field.
