Specializing in treating trauma, depression, anxiety, difficulties with emotion regulation, and interpersonal problems, Dr. Hallinan offers a comprehensive approach to mental health care.
Dr. Hallinan's academic journey began at Loyola University New Orleans, where he completed his undergraduate studies. He then pursued his masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology at Duquesne University, laying a strong foundation for his future practice. His training continued with an internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (New Orleans VA), where he honed his skills in cognitive behavioral therapies and trauma work.
Prior to joining Atlas Psychiatry, Dr. Hallinan continued to serve at the VA's general mental health clinic, treating a wide range of diagnoses and psychological issues. His role extended beyond direct patient care, as he also mentored psychiatry residents, psychology interns, and post-doctoral fellows, contributing to the development of future mental health professionals.
Dr. Hallinan's expertise spans several evidence-based therapeutic modalities. He is experienced and trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This diverse skill set allows him to tailor his approach to each client's unique needs, ensuring a personalized and effective treatment plan.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Hallinan maintains a keen interest in cultural events and stays current with new technology and gadgets.
