About

From the serene forests of New Hampshire to the bustling streets of Philadelphia, Shinichi Daimyo has dedicated over 16 years to revolutionizing mental health care across diverse landscapes and populations. As a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Shinichi brings a wealth of global experience and cultural insight to their practice, making them a beacon of innovative and compassionate care in the field of mental health.

Shinichi's journey in mental health began with providing residential nature therapy in rural New Hampshire, laying the foundation for a career marked by versatility and adaptability. Their expertise expanded exponentially as they developed culturally empowering mental health care programs in Haiti, Peru, Japan, India, and Rwanda. This global perspective has uniquely positioned Shinichi to understand and address the complex interplay between culture, environment, and mental health.

Returning stateside, Shinichi's commitment to serving diverse populations continued as they focused on treating U.S. Veterans through in-home mental health care. This experience, combined with their work providing critical psychiatry and psychotherapy care to poor and homeless populations throughout Philadelphia, both in-person and via telehealth, showcases their dedication to making mental health care accessible to all.

Shinichi's academic prowess is equally impressive. They hold a Master of Science in Nursing from Yale School of Nursing, specializing as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and a Master of Public Health in Global Health from Boston University. Their educational background also includes a BA with Honors in Psychology from the University of Southern California and a fellowship at Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy in International Humanitarian Policy. This robust educational foundation, coupled with training from experts at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and the University of Southern California in areas such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, psychosis, and trauma, has equipped Shinichi with a comprehensive toolkit to address a wide range of mental health challenges.

Currently serving as Clinical Faculty at Drexel University's psych NP program, Shinichi is shaping the next generation of mental health professionals. Their role as an advisor to the American Psychological Association on culturally affirming psychiatric and psychotherapy practices and training further cements their status as a thought leader in the field. Shinichi's expertise is sought after globally, with speaking engagements and consultations for domestic and international organizations on equity-driven approaches to mental health delivery and clinical care.

Shinichi's practice encompasses a broad spectrum of mental health services, including medication management and therapy. They work with adults and children 12 and older, addressing a wide range of concerns including depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, grief and loss, schizophrenia, psychosis, addiction, race and identity issues, attachment issues, relationship issues, divorce, and LGBTQIA+ concerns. Their approach is holistic, integrating their vast international experience with evidence-based practices to provide personalized, culturally sensitive care.

Despite their impressive credentials, Shinichi humbly credits the communities they've had the privilege to serve as their greatest mentors and educators. This perspective infuses their practice with a deep respect for diverse life experiences and a commitment to empowering clients through collaborative, culturally affirming care.
