With over four decades of life experience as a pastor's wife and an extensive background in lay counseling, lecturing, and mentoring, Rhonda Garrett, MA, LCMHC brings a unique blend of professional expertise and spiritual insight to her counseling practice. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Rhonda offers a wealth of knowledge, experience, and Spirit-filled empathy to the clients she serves.
Rhonda's areas of expertise span a wide range of therapeutic focuses, including marriage counseling, parenting and family issues, trauma recovery using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), grief management, women's issues, and treatment for depression and anxiety disorders. Her comprehensive approach to therapy is grounded in both her professional training and her rich life experiences, allowing her to connect deeply with clients facing various challenges.
Academically, Rhonda holds a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science in Child & Family Studies from the University of Tennessee. She is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors, ensuring her practice meets the highest professional standards. Beyond her formal education, Rhonda is also an accomplished author, further demonstrating her commitment to sharing knowledge and insights with a broader audience.
As Co-Director of Christian Counseling Associates of Raleigh, Rhonda works alongside her husband, Dr. Mike Garrett, with whom she has been married for over 44 years. This partnership extends beyond their professional lives, as they have raised three adult daughters and are now proud grandparents to five young grandchildren. This personal experience enriches Rhonda's understanding of family dynamics and life transitions, informing her approach to counseling.
Rhonda offers 50-minute appointments and extended sessions on Wednesdays, providing flexibility to meet client needs. She is also available for conjoint co-therapy sessions with Dr. Mike, offering a unique opportunity for clients to benefit from their combined expertise. Rhonda's warm, empathetic approach, coupled with her extensive experience and spiritual foundation, creates a supportive environment for clients to explore their challenges and work towards healing and growth.
