Nicole Malene
B.S. • Graduate Intern Therapist
About
Nicole Malene brings a holistic and mindful approach to therapy, drawing on her diverse background in nutrition, exercise science, and yoga to help clients achieve balance in mind, body, and spirit. As a graduate intern therapist working towards her master's in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling at Naropa University, Nicole combines evidence-based techniques with Eastern wisdom to offer a unique healing experience.
With a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Exercise Health Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Nicole's journey into the world of holistic wellness began long before her pursuit of psychotherapy. Her global experiences, including working in a health center in Nicaragua and studying restorative yoga therapy in India, have shaped her multicultural perspective and deepened her understanding of diverse healing modalities.
Nicole specializes in guiding clients through anxiety, chronic pain, life transitions, stress and burnout, and relationship challenges. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), positive psychology, and mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques. By integrating these methods with her background in yoga and movement arts, Nicole helps clients develop greater body awareness, emotional regulation, and overall resilience.
In her sessions, clients can expect a compassionate and somatic approach that draws on awareness practices, breathing techniques, and acceptance and compassion training. Nicole believes that by dedicating oneself to self-study and cultivating a more compassionate way of living, individuals can uncover unhelpful patterns and move towards a fuller, healthier expression of who they are.
As Nicole prepares to begin accepting new clients in Fall 2024, she looks forward to supporting individuals on their journey towards holistic well-being, helping them navigate life's challenges with greater ease and self-awareness. Her unique blend of Western psychology and Eastern philosophy offers clients a comprehensive toolkit for personal growth and healing.
