With a career spanning over a quarter-century, Melissa Yoak brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as Director of DaySpring Counseling. A Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor (LPCC-S), Melissa's journey in the field of mental health began more than 25 years ago, encompassing both community agency work and private practice.
Melissa's academic background is as robust as her professional experience. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Akron, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Malone University. This strong educational foundation, combined with her extensive practical experience, has shaped Melissa into a well-rounded and highly skilled therapist.
At the heart of Melissa's practice is a deep-seated passion for helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges. Her areas of expertise are diverse, focusing on couples and family therapy, as well as assisting individuals grappling with anxiety, stress, depression, and life adjustments. This broad spectrum of specialties allows her to provide comprehensive care tailored to each client's unique needs.
Melissa's commitment to DaySpring Counseling runs deep. She joined the practice in 2004 and ascended to the role of Director in 2008. Under her leadership, DaySpring has expanded its reach, with Melissa successfully managing the Akron location and opening the Stow/Hudson office in 2013. Her vision for DaySpring extends beyond immediate care; she is passionate about the lasting impact their work will have on generations of marriages, families, and individuals.
Beyond her professional life, Melissa's personal experiences enrich her practice. She is married and a mother of three teens, roles that undoubtedly inform her understanding of family dynamics and life transitions. Additionally, both she and her husband have been involved in church ministry for over 15 years, reflecting a commitment to community and spiritual well-being that often resonates with clients seeking a holistic approach to mental health.
