About

Art as a gateway to healing trauma – this innovative approach forms the cornerstone of Meg Bearman's therapeutic practice. As a Licensed Therapist, Art Therapist, and the Clinical Director and Founder of Meg Bearman Counseling, Meg specializes in using creative expression to help adult clients process and overcome complex trauma.

With a Master's degree in Art Therapy from George Washington University, Meg brings a unique blend of traditional psychotherapy and art-based interventions to her practice. Her approach is strengths-based and integrative, focusing on improving self-awareness, self-esteem, communication, relationships, and coping with life transitions. This comprehensive method supports clients in navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship issues.

Meg's professional experience spans diverse settings, including adult inpatient psychiatric care, community-based family counseling, adolescent grief support in non-profit organizations, and adult residential substance abuse treatment. This varied background has equipped her with a versatile skill set to address a wide range of mental health challenges.

In addition to her standard therapy sessions, Meg offers innovative trauma intensives – a more in-depth trauma processing experience that combines psychodynamic verbal processing, trauma psycho-education, art therapy, and Brainspotting. These intensives, tailored to each individual, take place over 5-7 days, providing a unique opportunity for focused healing.

As an artist herself, Meg has a particular affinity for working with clients in the music, arts, and creative world. She understands the unique challenges and perspectives of creative individuals, making her especially adept at connecting with and supporting this community. Her personal passion for art infuses her professional practice, creating a rich, empathetic environment for healing and growth.

At Meg Bearman Counseling, located in the heart of East Nashville, Meg leads a team dedicated to providing supportive, inclusive therapy. The practice wraps its arms around all communities, proudly affirming LGBTQIA+ individuals. Meg's approach to therapy is not just about addressing symptoms but about helping clients live their most authentic lives and truly thrive.
