About

With over four decades of experience in working with children and families, Lisa Kelly brings a unique blend of social work and physical therapy to her practice. Her integrated mind-body approach to therapy sets her apart in the field of mental health.

Lisa Kelly, LICSW, PT, holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of Southern California, complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Smith College. This diverse educational background has shaped her holistic approach to therapy, allowing her to address both psychological and physical aspects of her clients' well-being.

Kelly's practice focuses on a wide range of issues, including mood and behavior management, depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting skills, and working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. With over 20 years of experience in private practice, she has honed her skills in utilizing a sensory integrative approach. This method has deepened her understanding of the healing process, emphasizing the importance of reconnecting thoughts with bodily sensations.

In her work with children aged 3 and older, Kelly employs a non-directive experiential play therapy approach integrated with a sensory processing framework. She believes that play is the language of children, allowing them to express their stories in a non-threatening way. Kelly typically involves the family when working with young clients, recognizing the importance of a supportive family environment in the therapeutic process.

For adolescents, adults, and families, Kelly offers a range of services designed to help identify goals and access inner strengths. She believes in focusing on strengths rather than deficits, supporting clients in finding solutions and realizing their potential. Her toolkit includes various treatment approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and play therapy. A recent addition to her practice is the use of a therapy dog for animal-assisted interventions, further expanding her ability to connect with and support her clients.

Lisa Kelly's commitment to helping people live happy, fulfilling lives is evident in her approach. She creates a supportive environment where clients can explore their challenges, set goals, and work towards positive change. Whether addressing chronic health conditions, developmental delays, or family dynamics, Kelly's integrated mind-body approach provides a unique and effective path to healing and growth.
