About
With over 18 years of experience in mental health, Katie Cutchin, LCSW, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as Director of Therapy Services at Orlando Psychiatric Associates. Specializing in working with children, adolescents, and families since 2005, Katie has honed her skills across various challenging environments, from day-treatment programs for at-risk youth to inpatient psychiatric hospital settings.
Katie's journey in mental health began with a focus on adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system and other at-risk youth. For six years, she worked in a day-treatment program, holding pivotal roles as Director of Treatment and Director of Operations. This experience provided her with invaluable insights into the complex needs of young individuals facing significant life challenges.
Building on this foundation, Katie spent over six years in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting, where she provided individual, group, and family therapy to children and adolescents. This intensive experience further deepened her understanding of severe mental health issues and crisis intervention strategies.
In 2016, Katie expanded her practice to include outpatient services, offering individual and family therapy to clients aged 6 and up. Her commitment to providing effective, evidence-based treatment led her to become trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy. This powerful therapeutic technique has proven highly effective in treating a range of conditions, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and certain personality disorders.
Katie joined Orlando Psychiatric Associates in 2019 as the Director of Therapy Services, bringing her extensive experience and leadership skills to enhance the quality of care provided to the Central Florida community. In this role, she not only continues to offer direct therapeutic services but also guides and supports a team of mental health professionals, ensuring that each client receives personalized, high-quality care.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Katie's approach to therapy is holistic and client-centered. She understands that each individual's journey is unique, and she tailors her therapeutic techniques to meet the specific needs of her clients. Whether working with a child struggling with behavioral issues, an adolescent navigating the complexities of mental health and identity, or a family seeking to improve their dynamics, Katie brings empathy, expertise, and a commitment to fostering positive change.
Katie's diverse background allows her to address a wide range of mental health concerns effectively. Her experience spans from helping individuals cope with day-to-day stressors to managing more complex psychiatric conditions. With her leadership at Orlando Psychiatric Associates, Katie is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care that empowers individuals and families to achieve mental wellness and lead fulfilling lives.
