As a Clinical Psychologist and Director, she employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a particular emphasis on exposure therapies, recognizing their gold-standard status in treating anxiety-related disorders.
Dr. Croft-Caderao's expertise lies in working with a range of conditions, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related concerns, health-related anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, panic, and general anxiety. This method involves teaching clients to become more adept at experiencing life's myriad thoughts and feelings while maintaining focus on living meaningful lives. Her specialized certification in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for treating OCD and related disorders, obtained through The International OCD Foundation, further enhances her ability to provide targeted, effective treatment.
Dr. Croft-Caderao's academic journey includes earning her doctoral and master's degrees in Clinical Psychology from Southern Methodist University. During her time at SMU, she honed her skills in CBT and exposure therapy through participation in research trials aimed at enhancing treatment for social anxiety and phobias. Her commitment to ongoing education is evident in her pursuit of intensive trainings in ACT throughout her career, as well as her continued exploration of mindfulness, movement and exercise for mind-body connection, and multiculturalism and social justice issues within psychology.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Croft-Caderao contributes to the field by teaching and training doctoral students and psychiatry residents in CBT and ACT at UT Southwestern and SMU. This dedication to education ensures that future generations of mental health professionals are well-versed in these effective therapeutic approaches.
