About

Guiding individuals through the labyrinth of childhood trauma, Joe Woodard, MA, LMHC, offers a compassionate and relational approach to healing. As a licensed mental health counselor, Joe understands counseling as a deeply personal journey, one where he walks alongside his clients through experiences of heartache and confusion.

Joe's professional path began after completing his undergraduate training at Multnomah University in 2010, where he focused on Pastoral Leadership and Bible/Theology. This foundation led him to serve at a church in Western Washington while simultaneously working at the Cocoon House, an at-risk youth housing organization in Everett. These formative experiences inspired Joe to pursue further education, culminating in a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.

During his clinical internship at Westminster Chapel in Bellevue, Joe honed his skills by offering counseling to adolescents and adults grappling with a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression and anxiety. This diverse experience has informed his current practice, where he provides counseling services to individuals, adolescents, couples, and families.

Joe's therapeutic approach is grounded in attachment theory and psychodynamic principles. He views his role as a counselor as one who journeys with others into the depths of their experiences, believing that it is within these challenging spaces that individuals can find healing both internally and in their relationships. His areas of expertise include working with depression, anxiety, trauma, neglect, and abuse (physical, sexual, spiritual, and emotional). Joe also has experience supporting athletes and individuals struggling with identity confusion.

For those seeking a therapist who combines professional expertise with a deeply empathetic approach, Joe Woodard offers a unique blend of psychological insight and relational support. His practice focuses on creating a safe, honest, and trustworthy environment where clients can explore their past wounds and understand how these experiences impact their present lives and relationships.
