About

Equine-assisted therapy and a deep-rooted faith form the cornerstone of Jo Harrison's unique approach to counseling. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and Equine-Assisted Therapist (EAT), Jo brings a blend of traditional counseling techniques and innovative therapeutic methods to her practice at Restorative Hope Sanctuary, PLLC.

Jo's journey in mental health began in the halls of public schools, where she served for many years as a guidance counselor. This experience honed her skills in working with adolescents and young women, areas in which she continues to excel. Her practice focuses on empowering and encouraging these groups, with a particular emphasis on addressing depression, adjustment disorders, and eating disorders. Jo's success in these areas is a testament to her dedicated and compassionate approach.

With a Bachelor of Arts in Education, History, and Psychology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and a Master of Education in Counseling from Tarleton State University, Jo's academic background provides a solid foundation for her practice. Her professional qualifications are further enhanced by her status as an ordained minister, allowing her to offer Christian counseling to those who seek it.

Jo's connection to the Killeen-Lampasas area runs deep. As a native of Killeen, she has a strong appreciation for and connections with Fort Hood and the military community. This local insight proves invaluable in her work with adolescents from military families, as she brings a nuanced understanding of their unique challenges and needs.

At the heart of Jo's practice is her faith, which she describes as the foundation of her work. This spiritual grounding is complemented by her innovative use of equine-assisted therapy, an approach that has yielded remarkable results for many of her clients. Beyond her private practice, Jo's commitment to community service is evident in her involvement with various outreach programs, including the Boys and Girls Club, Transforming Life Center, and Hope for the Hungry.

Jo Harrison's practice at Restorative Hope Sanctuary represents the culmination of a long-held dream. Her vision of a ranch where mental, social, and emotional health could be nurtured through a combination of counseling and equine therapy has become a reality. Today, Restorative Hope stands as a testament to Jo's perseverance and dedication, offering a place of peace where individuals can receive Christian counseling, mentorship, and restoration for mind and spirit through equine therapy, nature, and prayer.
