About

With a passion for creating safe, welcoming spaces where young minds can flourish, Jess Wallace, LPC/MHSP, brings a unique blend of play therapy and evidence-based practices to her work with children, adolescents, and families. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider in Tennessee, Jess specializes in guiding young clients aged 3-15 through their emotional journeys, while also offering invaluable support to parents navigating the challenges of raising resilient children.

Jess's therapeutic approach is anchored in two primary modalities: Play Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her certification in Child-Centered Play Therapy with Neurorelational Emphasis from The Center for Connection Play Strong Institute allows her to tap into the natural language of children – play – to help them express their inner worlds and work through complex emotions. For older children and adolescents, Jess skillfully employs ACT techniques, fostering psychological flexibility and helping them align their actions with their deepest values.

While these form the foundation of her practice, Jess's versatility shines through her integration of various other therapeutic techniques. She draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed practices to create a truly client-centered experience. This eclectic approach allows her to tailor her interventions to each client's unique needs, whether they're struggling with anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, behavioral challenges, attachment disorders, or self-esteem concerns.

Jess's academic journey, which includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, has equipped her with a strong theoretical foundation. However, it's her extensive experience in various mental health settings – from community and school-based capacities to private practice – that truly sets her apart. This diverse background allows her to bring a wealth of practical knowledge to her therapeutic relationships.

At the heart of Jess's practice is a deep-seated belief in the power of connection. She strives to create an environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued, recognizing that a strong therapeutic rapport is the cornerstone of effective treatment. Her approach is both unbiased and non-judgmental, allowing her to work with clients from all walks of life. Jess is also able to provide faith-based counseling when requested and is proudly LGBTQ affirming, ensuring a welcoming space for all clients.

When she's not in the office, Jess's love for the outdoors and active lifestyle mirrors the energy she brings to her therapy sessions. Her personal interests in hiking, running, and reading not only contribute to her own well-being but also inform her holistic approach to mental health. These experiences, combined with her roles as a wife and mother, give her a grounded perspective that resonates with the families she serves.

Choosing Jess Wallace as a therapist means partnering with a professional who is not only highly qualified but also deeply committed to nurturing the emotional well-being of young people and their families. Her unique blend of specialized training, diverse experience, and genuine passion for her work creates a therapeutic experience that is as enriching as it is effective.
