Jennifer Vincent
LMHC, CSAYC • Licensed Mental Health Counselor
About
A boundary expert and self-proclaimed "emotional badass," Jennifer Vincent, LMHC, CSAYC, brings a refreshing and authentic approach to therapy. As a member of the queer community herself, Jennifer has created an affirming practice that serves as a safe haven for LGBTQ+ individuals and all those seeking a genuine therapeutic experience.
Jennifer's counseling style is far from conventional. She believes in a casual, down-to-earth approach that focuses on the person rather than just their symptoms. With a direct yet empathic and creative role in the therapy process, Jennifer incorporates art therapy, homework, appropriate use of humor, and even the occasional swear word to facilitate long-term healing. Her philosophy is that while the journey of self-discovery can be challenging, not taking ourselves too seriously can be truly therapeutic.
Drawing from several theoretical orientations, Jennifer's approach is client-centered and strength-based. She utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and inner child healing techniques, tailoring her methods to each unique individual. As a trained practitioner in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Jennifer offers innovative solutions for rapid healing. Her expertise spans a wide range of focus areas, including PTSD and Acute Stress Disorder, family therapy, childhood trauma and attachment work, sexually acting out behaviors in teens, anxiety, mood disorders, and LGBTQIA+ affirming care.
Jennifer's diverse background informs her practice. With a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, she initially worked with survivors of violence and helped families find housing. Realizing her passion for mental health, she pursued a master's degree in mental health counseling to better serve those who have experienced trauma, childhood abuse, and sexual violence. This unique combination of experiences allows her to bring a comprehensive understanding to her therapeutic work.
Licensed in both Indiana and Florida, Jennifer is not just a therapist but also a private practice owner and clinical supervisor. She believes in making mental health services accessible and runs a counseling internship program to offer low-cost therapy options. When not in session, Jennifer enjoys traveling, long hikes, tabletop board games, and spending time with her partner and their three dogs. As a new foster parent to high-needs kids, she brings personal insight into the challenges of family dynamics and caregiving.
