Jeff Williams
LCSW • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
About
With over a decade of experience in individual, couples, and family therapy, Jeff Williams brings a warm personality and a blend of thought and heart to his practice. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCS 28894), Jeff's approach is both sensitive and direct, drawing from a rich background in healthcare and mental health services.
Jeff's journey in the field began in 2002, working with severely emotionally disabled teens in a San Diego area group home. Since then, he has held various leadership roles, including Assistant Director, Clinical Supervisor, and Case Management Supervisor, before focusing primarily on therapy. This diverse experience has given him a comprehensive understanding of mental health challenges across different settings and age groups.
A significant part of Jeff's expertise comes from his extensive training in Structural Family Therapy. He completed over 300 hours of training over three years with Dr. Stephen Greenstein, former Chief Psychologist and Director of Training at Minuchin's Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic. This specialized training has solidified Jeff's belief that family healing can lead to individual healing, informing his holistic approach to therapy.
Jeff's therapeutic toolkit is diverse, allowing him to tailor his approach to each client's unique needs. He regularly employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Bowen Systems Therapy. This versatility enables him to effectively treat a wide range of issues, including depression, bipolar disorder, relationship problems, trauma, anxiety, and existential/identity dilemmas. Additionally, Jeff has experience working with substance abuse needs, making his practice a valuable resource for those struggling with addiction.
As a southern California native, Jeff brings a touch of warmth and relatability to his sessions. Outside the office, he can be found contemplating with the sun on his face, enjoying time with family and friends, listening to music, pruning fruit trees, and seeking short, revitalizing adventures. This balance between professional expertise and personal warmth creates a welcoming and effective therapeutic environment for his clients, whether they are individuals (ages 10 and up), couples, or families. Jeff's approach to therapy is not just about addressing immediate concerns, but about embarking on a journey of growth and healing together.
