Jackie Hartman
MS, LCMHC, RPT • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
About
In the vibrant world of art and play, Jackie Hartman, MS, LCMHC, RPT, has found her calling as a compassionate guide for children and adolescents navigating the complex terrain of emotions and relationships. With over 12 years of experience, Jackie stands out as one of only 14 therapists in Raleigh who have earned the prestigious Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential, demonstrating her deep commitment to specialized care for young clients.
Jackie's therapeutic approach is as colorful and multifaceted as the art she uses in her sessions. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Registered Play Therapist, she expertly weaves together art therapy, play therapy, and evidence-based interventions to create a safe, nurturing environment where healing can flourish. Her unique background in Art Therapy, earned through her Master's degree, allows her to tap into the transformative power of creative expression, enabling children to communicate and process emotions that words alone often cannot capture.
Specializing in working with children and adolescents, Jackie excels at addressing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, abuse, and family dynamics such as divorce or blended families. Her training in Theraplay®, an evidence-based attachment therapy, equips her to strengthen parent-child bonds and address behavioral issues with a gentle, playful approach. Additionally, Jackie's expertise extends to Synergetic Play Therapy® (SPT), a cutting-edge technique that incorporates neurobiology, attachment theory, and mindfulness to help children regulate their emotions.
Jackie's commitment to holistic family healing is evident in her work with parents, offering support and guidance through parenting challenges and fostering a collaborative approach to therapy. Her ongoing pursuit of professional growth, including her progress towards becoming a Registered Art Therapist, reflects her dedication to providing the most effective and innovative care possible.
At Oak City Counseling since 2015, Jackie not only serves her clients with warmth and expertise but also contributes to the growth of her field by providing training and support to other clinicians. Her passion for helping children and teens overcome obstacles and lead fulfilling lives is the driving force behind her practice. When she's not in the therapy room, Jackie finds joy in spending time with family and friends, creating art, and relaxing at the beach – experiences that undoubtedly enrich her ability to connect with and understand the diverse needs of her young clients.
