With a passion for transforming lives, Dr. Heather Sheets brings 16 years of experience as a licensed clinical psychologist to her practice, specializing in guiding adults through life's most challenging transitions. Her unique approach combines cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, and narrative psychology to help clients find clarity, joy, and peace.

Dr. Sheets' journey in psychology began with her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an APA-approved program, followed by an APA-approved doctoral internship at the University of Notre Dame. There, she honed her expertise in alcohol and substance assessment and treatment. Her formal post-doctoral training at Northwestern University further refined her skills in short-term therapy, CBT, and narrative therapy. This comprehensive educational background forms the foundation of her eclectic and effective therapeutic approach.

In her practice, Dr. Sheets focuses on treating a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, parenting challenges, and existential crises. She has a particular interest in women's issues, such as prenatal and postpartum depression, infertility, and miscarriage. Additionally, she specializes in men's health issues, including divorce, separation, and relationship difficulties. Dr. Sheets believes in a strength-based approach to therapy, helping clients identify untapped inner strengths and turn psychological distress into emotional resilience.

Throughout her career, Dr. Sheets has taken on various leadership roles that have enriched her clinical practice. She has served as Secretary/Treasurer for the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology and as a liaison to the Association of State and Provincial Licensing Boards. Her involvement in professional organizations extends to roles such as Secretary for the DC Psychological Association and President of the Association of Chicagoland Externship and Practicum Training. These experiences have given her a broad perspective on the field of psychology and inform her holistic approach to client care.
