About

Trauma-informed care is at the heart of Feliza Galindo-Insurriaga's therapeutic approach. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Feliza brings a wealth of experience and a diverse set of skills to her practice, serving clients across the lifespan - from young children to adults.

Feliza's journey in mental health began at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and criminal justice. This unique combination laid the foundation for her nuanced understanding of human behavior and societal factors that influence mental health. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Feliza's bilingual capabilities enable her to connect with a broader range of clients, ensuring cultural sensitivity in her practice.

Her passion for education and supporting others led her through various roles, including seven years as an elementary school teacher and another seven as a high school counselor. These experiences provided Feliza with invaluable insights into the challenges faced by children and adolescents, informing her current work with younger clients and their families.

Driven by a desire to make an even more profound impact, Feliza pursued further education, obtaining a Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling and later a Master's in Social Work from UTEP. Now licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in both Texas and New Mexico, Feliza offers a comprehensive array of mental health services tailored to each individual's unique needs.

Feliza's therapeutic toolkit is both extensive and specialized. She employs Trauma Informed Techniques as a cornerstone of her practice, recognizing the pervasive impact of trauma on mental health. Her approach draws from evidence-based methodologies including trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy, which helps clients process traumatic experiences and develop coping strategies. Additionally, Feliza utilizes Theraplay, a technique that strengthens the bond between children and their caregivers, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an innovative approach particularly effective in treating PTSD and other trauma-related disorders.

Specializing in a range of mental health concerns, Feliza adeptly addresses issues related to attachment, parenting, stress, self-esteem, depression, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, PTSD, and suicidality. Her diverse expertise allows her to provide comprehensive care that addresses the multifaceted nature of mental health challenges.

When not in session, Feliza finds joy and balance in her family life, surrounded by her husband, two children, and their beloved husky. This personal foundation of love and support undoubtedly informs her empathetic approach to therapy, allowing her to connect with clients on a deeply human level.

Feliza Galindo-Insurriaga's practice stands as a beacon of hope for those navigating the complex landscape of mental health. With her trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and highly personalized approach, she invites clients of all ages to embark on a journey of healing, growth, and self-discovery.
