Her exceptional performance led to her distinction as chief resident for their interpersonal therapy clinic, showcasing her leadership abilities and dedication to patient care.

Before embarking on her medical career, Dr. Nelson's academic pursuits took an intriguing turn. She earned highest honors in religious studies at the University of California, Berkeley, with a concentration in Buddhism.
