As a licensed clinical psychologist and certified yoga teacher, Dr. Bowier brings over a decade of experience to her practice, specializing in trauma-focused therapy and mindfulness-based interventions.
Dr. Bowier's journey in mental health has taken her across diverse settings, enriching her clinical expertise. She has worked in private practice, community mental health centers, and college counseling services, gaining invaluable experience in addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. Her role as the Coordinator for Sexual Violence and Trauma Treatment at Marquette University showcases her dedication to supporting survivors of trauma. Further broadening her international perspective, Dr. Bowier served as a staff psychologist for Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine Counseling Center in the West Indies.
Currently holding the position of Trauma-Focused Psychologist at the University of California, Santa Cruz Counseling & Psychological Services since January 2020, Dr. Bowier continues to specialize in helping individuals navigate the complex terrain of trauma recovery. Her approach is holistic and relational, recognizing that individuals are best understood as a sum of numerous interrelated factors rather than in isolation.
Dr. Bowier's theoretical foundation is grounded in insight-based and somatic therapies, with a strong emphasis on the relational component of healing. She skillfully integrates mindfulness and self-compassion techniques into her practice, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
