About

With a passion for helping individuals improve their mental health, especially children and adolescents, Brooklyn Twomey brings a unique blend of educational counseling and clinical mental health expertise to her practice. Her journey in the field of psychology and counseling began with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2019, followed by a Master's in Education with a focus on School Counseling in 2021. Brooklyn is currently pursuing her Certification in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, set to be completed in May 2024, demonstrating her commitment to continuous professional growth.

Brooklyn's experience as both a High School Counselor and a Junior High School Counselor has equipped her with invaluable insights into the challenges faced by young people. She has developed expertise in helping students navigate a range of issues including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, perfectionism, self-esteem issues, and relationship difficulties. This school-based experience allows her to bring a holistic understanding of adolescent development to her therapeutic practice.

As a military spouse, Brooklyn has a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by military families. Her familiarity with frequent moves, the hardship of being away from family, and the process of establishing new communities adds a layer of empathy and practical knowledge to her work with clients from military backgrounds.

Brooklyn's therapeutic approach is diverse and tailored to meet individual client needs. She incorporates several evidence-based techniques including solution-focused brief therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. This multi-faceted approach allows her to address a wide range of mental health concerns effectively.

At the core of Brooklyn's philosophy is the belief in helping individuals become the best version of themselves. She places great emphasis on building rapport with clients, recognizing it as a fundamental aspect of successful therapy. Brooklyn also advocates for self-care, not only for her clients but also for herself as a clinician, embodying the principle that one must "fill up their own cup before pouring into others." This balanced approach ensures that she can consistently provide high-quality, empathetic care to her clients while maintaining her own well-being.
