Brooke Sprague
RMHCI, CRC • Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
About
With a passion for empowering individuals to reach their full potential, Brooke Sprague brings a client-centered approach to her work as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Specializing in teen and adult therapy, couples counseling, and career evaluations, Brooke's diverse skill set allows her to address a wide range of mental health concerns with compassion and expertise.
Brooke's therapeutic approach is built on the foundation of trust, openness, and a non-judgmental safe space. She believes that clients are the experts of their own lives and works collaboratively with them to promote positive, long-term outcomes. By integrating positive psychology into her practice, Brooke helps clients identify and leverage their pre-existing strengths, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and the interconnectedness of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Drawing from a variety of therapeutic techniques, including acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and the Gottman method for couples, Brooke tailors her approach to each client's unique needs. Her areas of passion include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, communication, boundaries, body image, sexuality, vulnerability/belonging, significant life transitions, adjustment disorders, OCD, trauma, child-parent relationships, self-care, burn-out, and career and college counseling.
Brooke's journey to becoming a therapist began during her undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida, where she earned degrees in Health Sciences and Psychology. Her experience working in a Baker Act facility exposed her to the pressing need for mental health advocacy, particularly for underserved populations. This realization led her to pursue a master's degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida.
As part of the Behavioral Health Workforce and Education and Training program, Brooke developed a unique perspective on integrating behavioral health with primary care. This experience enhances her ability to help clients understand the vital connection between their mental and physical health, providing a holistic approach to well-being.
Brooke's compassion, empathy, and optimism create an environment where clients feel truly heard and supported. Her patient, curious, and kind nature helps clients believe in their ability to accomplish their therapeutic goals and see long-term positive outcomes beyond the therapy room. Whether working with teens navigating the challenges of adolescence, adults seeking personal growth, or couples striving to strengthen their relationships, Brooke is dedicated to guiding her clients towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
