Anna Elyse Powers
MS, LMFT • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
About
With a gentle, collaborative approach and a diverse toolkit of therapeutic techniques, Anna Elyse Powers, MS, LMFT, stands at the forefront of relational therapy. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Anna specializes in helping individuals, couples, and families navigate the complexities of relationships, heal from traumatic experiences, and build confidence to achieve personal goals.
Anna's therapeutic approach is both comprehensive and adaptable, drawing from a range of evidence-based practices. She incorporates techniques from Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This diverse toolkit allows her to tailor her approach to each client's unique story and therapeutic goals.
Particularly passionate about couples therapy, Anna utilizes techniques from Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy and the Gottman Method to help partners repair and strengthen their relationships. Her approach focuses on getting to the heart of relationship issues, increasing satisfaction, and healing emotional injuries that may stem from the relationship itself or previous traumas.
Anna's expertise extends beyond couples work to encompass a wide range of specialties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, self-growth, identity exploration, women's issues, children's social and emotional issues, and grief. For clients who prefer not to verbalize their traumatic experiences, Anna offers Accelerated Resolution Therapy, a technique that targets specific somatic symptoms associated with anxiety and post-traumatic stress.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Elon University and a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta University, Anna brings a solid educational foundation to her practice. Her training as a gender-affirming Safe Space provider for the LGBTQIA+ community further demonstrates her commitment to inclusive and culturally competent care.
At Powers Relational Therapy, Anna works alongside her colleague Nathan Powers, MS, LMFT, offering a collaborative environment where clients can explore their lives not just as individuals, but in connection to their relationships, family members, friends, co-workers, and society at large. This relational, systemic approach provides a comprehensive framework for understanding and addressing life's challenges.
