About
Integrating psychological and social characteristics with biological therapy to treat the whole person is at the core of Dr. Andrew Morrow's psychiatric practice. As a psychiatrist serving patients at OC-Psychiatrist, Inc. in Mission Viejo, California, Dr. Morrow brings a unique perspective to mental health care, viewing his patient relationships as therapeutic alliances and collaborative efforts rather than traditional doctor-patient dynamics.
Dr. Morrow's journey to psychiatry began with a fascination for human behavior and a recognition of each person's unique experiences, upbringing, relationships, and personality. This interest led him to pursue a career where he could make a meaningful impact on people's lives by addressing mental health holistically - considering the mind, body, and soul in his treatment approaches.
Born and raised in Orange County, California, Dr. Morrow's academic path took him to St. Louis, Missouri, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in chemistry at St. Louis University, graduating summa cum laude. He continued his education at St. Louis University School of Medicine, obtaining his medical degree before returning to his roots in Orange County. His residency training at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident, provided him with extensive experience in general adult psychiatry. This comprehensive training encompassed various aspects of mental health care, including pharmacological therapy, psychotherapy, and subspecialties such as child adolescent, geriatric, consult-liaison, and forensic psychiatry.
At OC-Psychiatrist, Inc., Dr. Morrow offers a wide range of treatments for mental health conditions. His areas of expertise include OCD, PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. What sets Dr. Morrow apart is his approach to patient care. He believes in educating his patients about their diagnoses, presenting all available treatment options, addressing concerns, and working collaboratively to determine the best course of action. This patient-centered approach empowers individuals to take charge of their mental and physical health, ultimately helping them achieve their full potential.
Dr. Morrow's diverse experience extends beyond traditional clinical settings. He has provided care in nursing homes, long-term care facilities, detox centers, and county facilities, giving him a broad perspective on mental health needs across various populations and environments. This wealth of experience informs his practice, allowing him to offer nuanced and comprehensive care to his patients.
In his mission to provide effective mental health care, Dr. Morrow combines his medical expertise with a deep understanding of the human experience. He strives to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered to participate actively in their treatment journey.
