About

From the nurturing environment of children's ministry to the compassionate realm of mental health counseling, Ana L. Brinton's journey exemplifies a deep-rooted commitment to helping others. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with nearly a decade of experience in private practice, Ana has cultivated a diverse skill set that allows her to connect with clients across all age groups, from children to the elderly.

Ana's path to becoming a mental health professional was shaped by her early experiences in church, where she served in Children's Ministry both as a worker and a leader. It was during this time that she observed unmet needs in the lives of children and families, including struggles within blended families, parental divorce, grief, loss, and various behavioral and emotional issues. These observations ignited her passion for psychology and set her on a path of extensive education and training.

Ana's academic journey reflects her commitment to a holistic approach to mental health. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University (2006) and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University (2011). Driven by a desire to integrate her faith into her practice, Ana pursued further education at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, where she earned a second Master's Degree in School Counseling in 2013. This additional training provided her with the Christ-centered approach to counseling she had been seeking.

In her private practice, Ana has developed significant expertise in addressing a range of mental health concerns. Her areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, behavior and attention-deficit disorders, women's issues, and grief and loss. This broad spectrum of expertise allows her to provide tailored support to diverse clients, meeting them where they are in their unique life journeys.

Ana's multicultural background adds another layer to her therapeutic approach. As a native of Brazil who moved to America at the age of 14, she brings a unique perspective to her practice. Her fluency in both English and Portuguese not only showcases her linguistic skills but also reflects her ability to connect with clients from varied cultural backgrounds.

Recently, Ana relocated to Boone, NC with her husband and young son, driven by both ministry and professional opportunities. Despite this move, she maintains her connection with the Heartland Counseling Center, where she has been a valued member for the past five years. Ana continues to provide counseling services remotely, demonstrating her adaptability and commitment to her clients' well-being, regardless of geographical distance.

Ana L. Brinton's approach to therapy is characterized by her blend of professional expertise, faith-informed perspective, and multicultural understanding. Her journey from church ministry to mental health counseling underscores her dedication to addressing the holistic needs of individuals and families, making her a compassionate and skilled guide for those seeking support in their mental health journey.
