About

Bringing behavioral health services directly into homes and communities, Amber Rogers leads with a vision of comprehensive, family-centered care. As the program director of CHD's In-Home Therapy and Therapeutic Mentoring services, Rogers has spent a decade dedicated to transforming the landscape of children's mental health support.

Rogers' journey at CHD exemplifies her commitment to understanding every facet of in-home therapy. Starting as a therapeutic training & support specialist, she climbed the ranks to become a clinician, clinical supervisor, and assistant program director before assuming her current leadership role. This firsthand experience through various positions has given her a unique perspective on supporting her staff and delivering true outreach.

At the heart of Rogers' approach is the Massachusetts Children's Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI), which she champions for its efficiency in treating children and youth under 21 with serious emotional and behavioral health needs. She emphasizes the power of bringing trauma-informed, family-centered services directly into homes, allowing for 4-8 hours of weekly engagement compared to the typical hour-long outpatient session.

Rogers' philosophy centers on treating the whole family unit rather than viewing the child in isolation. She advocates for a collaborative team approach, gathering resources and working with families to achieve individualized goals. This "family systems" methodology extends beyond the home, incorporating schools, libraries, and other community locations to meet families where they are most comfortable.

Communication is key in Rogers' program. She stresses the importance of connecting all aspects of a child's life, from school counselors to extended family members, ensuring a unified approach to care. Her innovative strategies can be as straightforward as introducing "the art of quality time" through family dinners as a therapeutic homework assignment.

Even in the face of challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, Rogers demonstrated adaptability by swiftly transitioning to telehealth services without compromising quality or intensity. Her leadership continues to evolve, now focusing on nurturing a new generation of dedicated in-home therapy interns who bring fresh energy and a deep belief in the transformative power of their work.

Amber Rogers' decade-long dedication to in-home therapy at CHD showcases her as a leader who truly understands the intricacies of delivering effective, community-based mental health services. Her approach, grounded in experience and adaptability, continues to shape the future of children's behavioral health support.
