With over eight years of experience in clinical psychology, Dr. Alix Shepherd, Psy.D., brings a unique blend of approachability, sensitivity, and humor to her therapeutic practice. Dr. Shepherd's expertise spans a wide range of areas, including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse concerns, and relationship problems. Dr. Shepherd's extensive training and diverse work experience significantly inform her practice. She completed her undergraduate education at California Polytechnic State University, earning a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Physiology and Anatomy. She then pursued her M.A. in Applied Psychological Sciences and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Pacific University. Her professional journey includes work in community mental health, private practice, and psychiatric hospitals in Oregon. Notably, she completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship and a specialized postdoctoral fellowship in Forensic Psychology at Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI).
Currently, in addition to her work at Hillary Counseling, Dr. Shepherd maintains a full-time position as a licensed psychologist on a maximum-security juvenile unit at MMHI. There, she provides treatment to adjudicated male youth, supervises psychology trainees, and offers individual therapy to adult patients. This rich tapestry of experiences enhances her ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds and address a wide array of mental health concerns.
