Alex Hsieh

Dr. Alex Hsieh brings a unique blend of compassion and expertise to his work helping individuals overcome pornography addiction and build more authentic, connected lives. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a PhD, Dr. Hsieh employs a systemic approach that examines how addiction impacts all aspects of a person's relationships and daily functioning.

Dr. Hsieh's practice focuses on guiding men and women through the challenging process of freeing themselves from pornography addiction. He understands the intense shame, frustration, and loss of control that often accompany this struggle. With empathy and clinical skill, Dr. Hsieh supports clients in replacing addictive patterns with healthier coping mechanisms, greater self-compassion, and a deeper understanding of their sexuality and relational needs.

In addition to his work with pornography addiction, Dr. Hsieh specializes in counseling teens who are grappling with issues of purpose, identity, and emotional wellbeing. Drawing on his expertise in adolescent development, he provides a supportive environment for young people to navigate the complex journey toward adulthood. Dr. Hsieh takes a collaborative approach, partnering with teens and their families to foster resilience, self-discovery, and positive growth.

Dr. Hsieh's academic background includes a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University and a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University. His clinical experience spans diverse settings, including community mental health agencies, school-based programs, university clinics, and homeless transitional facilities. This broad exposure informs his holistic, culturally-sensitive approach to therapy.

Currently serving as an Associate Professor and Clinical Coordinator in the Couple and Family Therapy program at Alliant International University, Dr. Hsieh brings the latest evidence-based practices to his clinical work. He is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, allowing him to serve a diverse clientele. Dr. Hsieh's warm personality, strong clinical skills, and commitment to collaborative, goal-oriented therapy create a safe space for clients to explore vulnerable topics and work towards meaningful change.
