Julia Cottle, Ph.D., earned her doctorate in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Davis, and later served as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Psychiatry at the UC Davis School of Medicine. There, she coordinated a two-year ethnographic study on Latina caregivers of elderly family members with cognitive impairment. With over 25 years of research experience, Dr. Cottle has taught at universities in Ecuador, Mexico, and the United States. Currently, she works as a medical interpreter and freelance translator, writer, and editor. Her personal experience with substance abuse disorders fuels her dedication to improving support for those affected by addiction.
